The African Honeyguide (Indicator indicator) is a small bird with a remarkable gift. It loves beeswax, but cannot open beehives hidden high in trees. So it calls for help, guiding a honey-hunter to the hive. The hunter takes the honey; the bird feeds on the wax. Both benefit. Neither succeeds alone.
This partnership inspires our name. At Honeyguide, we guide communities to sustainably manage their natural resources. We believe conservation works best through partnership—when communities are trusted and empowered, both people and wildlife thrive together.
