Football team with their new kit
The Matemwe football team has received some new football gear from the Honeyguide Foundation as part of the community project that supports sports, health, and a clean environment. The football team did a fantastic job of helping clean up their village.
Honeyguide has been supporting football teams in Matemwe with equipment. In return the football team become the ‘eco-champions’ of the village by cleaning up village rubbish. Honeyguide believes that by using sports, and in particular these football teams, the village youth will begin to emulate their football heroes actions. Many children in the village see the football players as stars and therefore the football players can become responsible peer educators and help change youth behavior in Matemwe. The Honeyguide Foundation is now brainstorming the idea of having a women’s’ event that can also encourage the women of Matemwe to participate in keeping the village clean.
