Honeyguide was incredibly excited to receive the news that two of our rangers, Shinini Simel and Lerumbe Kaaya, were identified as recipients of the African Ranger Award for 2019. The award, given annually on behalf of the Paradise Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to environmental conservation. Shinini, the head of the K9 Unit operating at Manyara Ranch, has showcased an uncanny ability to communicate with and lead the dogs of the K9 Unit. Lerumbe, a trainer of village game scouts (VGS) in several Honeyguide working areas, has used his commanding voice to clearly communicate his knowledge and expectations for the VGS trainees.

In receiving their awards, Shinini and Lerumbe have been offered the opportunity to travel to Ghana to meet with Jack Ma, founder of the Alibaba Group and co-founder of the Paradise Foundation. We look forward to hearing from these two about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
